Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cream:

1 cup margarine or shortening, softened

1/2 cup each sugar and brown sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs, beaten


Combine:

1 tsp. baking soda

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp. salt


Add:

3/4 to 1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets or spread on cookie sheet or 9x13 inch pan to form bars. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes for drop cookies, 20 minutes for pan cookies on cookie sheet, or 40 minutes for cookie bars. Cut while still hot.
