Naan Bread

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon dry active yeast

3/4 cup lukewarm water

1/2 cup plain yogurt

3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided

1 1/4 teaspoons salt

1 tablespoon olive oil (plus additional olive oil for later)


Directions:

Dissolve yeast in water for 5 minutes. Stir in yogurt. Add 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, stir well. Cover and let rise for 2 hours.


Add salt, 1 tablespoon oil, and remaining flour until dough is no longer tacky. Knead and let rise, about 1 hour or until doubled. Punch down dough and let rest 5 more minutes.


Divide dough into 8 portions. (Work with one portion at a time while keeping other portions covered) Stretch each portion into a 6-inch oval. Press 5-6 finger prints into each oval. Let rise. Brush with olive oil and grill on high heat for just a few minutes on each side.  


Serves 8
