Peanut Blossoms

Sift together:

1 3/4 cups flour

1 tsp. soda

1/2 tsp. salt


Cream together:

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup peanut butter


Gradually Add:

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar


Cream well and add:

1 unbeaten egg

2 Tbsp. milk

1 tsp. vanilla


Beat well and blend in the dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.

Shape dough into balls using a rounded teaspoon for each. Roll balls in sugar and place on greased cookie sheets.


Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each cookie with a solid milk chocolate candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge. Return to oven; bake 2 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
