Peanut Butter & Jelly

I know. Who needs a recipe for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?! You just take some peanut butter, and a little jelly, and spread it on bread, right!?! But . . . Have you ever tried any of these fun variations of PBJ’s?

Variations:

Toasted & Dripping: Make your normal peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but then put it on a skillet and toast the whole thing. The peanut butter basically melts and drips as you eat it. Messy, but amazing!

Triple Decker: To make this really work (and not get mushy), the trick is to toast the middle slice of bread before adding it to the stack, so it doesn’t get soggy.

Sweet Honey Crunch: Swap out the jam for honey, and add some Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.

Peanut Butter & Banana: Ditch the jam and add slices of banana and a few drizzles of honey.

Watermelon PB Sandwich: Spread some peanut butter on two slices of bread, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, and add a slice of watermelon between the bread slices. Try it. I promise it’s not gross!

Grilled Bacon Apple Sandwich: Make a sandwich with peanut butter and apricot jelly. Add slices of granny smith apples, some cooked bacon, and a little cayenne pepper (if desired). Spread a little butter on the outside of the sandwich, and toast in a skillet.

Fruity Peanut Butter Sandwich: Make your typical peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and add to it some sliced apples, a few raisins, maybe a few craisins, and some salted peanut. Yum!

Banana Dog: A really fun sandwich that kids absolutely love! You just take a regular hotdog bun, spread some peanut butter and jelly on it, and place a whole (peeled) banana down the middle of the bun. Instant “Banana Dog”!

PB French Toast: Lather the peanut butter and jelly between two pieces of french toast!

Marshmallow Fluff: Add some marshmallow creme to the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Peanut Butter S’more: Leave out the jelly and add some peanut butter, nutella, and marshmallow creme for a peanut butter s’more sandwich.

Crunchy PBJ: Add some crunchy potato chips to the sandwich for a little texture and crunch.

Chocolate Chip: Keep it simple by adding some chocolate chips to your sandwich, or go all out with the chocolate by replacing the jelly with nutella and then add the chocolate chips.

PBJ Waffle Sandwich: Make your sandwich exactly the way you like it, then toast it in a waffle iron.

Add Some Sprinkles: Make an open-ended sandwich spruce it up with sprinkles!

Animal Pictures: Make an open-ended sandwich and use some sliced fruit to make some animal faces or shapes . . . click here!
